RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN

We’re seeking a talented R&D Technician to join our dynamic team and to embark on a thrilling journey into technologies essential to power Earth and Space exploration.

Your Role:

As R&D Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting research and development activities focused on advancing materials for energy applications. The daily work will focus on running experiments needed for establishing the proof of concept and collecting data for scale up of novel processes for metal production and refining.

You will work under the direction of a scientist/engineer running the project with a level of autonomy in execution of the laboratory work and ability to impact the project course with your technical feedback and best judgment being part of the project team.

Your Responsibilities:

  • You conduct laboratory experiments and tests on various materials to evaluate process performance and product properties.
  • You prepare and analyze samples using a range of techniques, including microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing.
  • You collaborate with researchers and engineers to develop and optimize materials for energy technologies.
  • You maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
  • Assist in the design and setup of experiments, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate equipment calibration.

What you need to succeed:

  • You have a bachelor’s in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.  A master’s degree is advantageous, although work experience is more important.
  • You have 3+ years of experience working in applied research or analytical laboratory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of materials characterization techniques and equipment.
  • Proficiency in conducting experiments, recording data, and analyzing results.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and protocols in a laboratory setting.
  • Good ability to communicate when taking instructions, returning deliverables, generating feedback and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • In terms of languages, you must have good written and effective oral communication in English. Other languages are considered an asset.
  • You have strong work ethics and passion to set and meet high performance standards.
  • You have an agile, growth-oriented mindset and you are particularly motivated to bring the best experience to Maana.
