Maana Electric and Etex (https://www.etexgroup.com/en/) have been selected by European Space Agency – ESA for the activity “Development of lightweight high temperature insulation for regenerative fuel cells and ISRU”
The goal of the project is to develop and raise the TRL of an ultra-lightweight, high-temperature insulation concepts designed to operate under Martian environmental conditions – enabling the next generation of regenerative fuel cells and ISRU technologies.
As space agencies and industry move toward sustainable planetary exploration, insulation systems capable of withstanding extreme thermal environments without compromising weight or performance are critical. This effort will directly support in-situ resource utilization technologies vital for enabling long-term human presence on Mars.
Maana Electric will bring its experience in high-temperature reactor development and ISRU system design to the project, ensuring the insulation solution is well-suited for extraterrestrial applications.
