PROCESS ENGINEER

Your role:

As a Process Engineer you will play a key role in advancing materials science through innovative testing solutions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts to drive innovation and contribute to the success of our groundbreaking projects.

In this role you will follow the entire innovation process from understanding the requirements for the material that needs to be produced or refined, preparing the technology review to identify process strategies suitable for the purpose and later developing the process from laboratory proof of concept to polit scale prototype.

The task will require basic leadership skills to participate in technical decisions work planning with the project leaders. It will require initiative for taking a proactive attitude towards problem solving and project risk management. The laboratory work is seen in a team seating in which R&D and mechanical technicians will support the workflow.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and implement test plans and procedures for the development of production and purification processes of metals by means of electrochemical and thermal refining of oxides and low purity metals into semiconductor materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand material requirements and specifications for specific applications.
  • Conduct experiments to investigate the behavior of materials under different environmental conditions and stress factors.
  • Analyze test data using statistical methods and software tools to draw meaningful conclusions and make recommendations for material improvements.
  • Prepare comprehensive test reports summarizing experimental procedures, results, and findings.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on material selection and feasibility for new product development projects.
  • Troubleshoot test equipment issues and collaborate with technicians and engineers to ensure its proper functioning.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in material science, and testing techniques to continuously improve testing processes and methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards, regulations, and safety protocols in all testing activities.

What you need to succeed:

  • You have a master level education in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • You have 3+ years of work experience. allowing you to gain understanding of electro smelting processes and refining of metals. PhD can be taken as work experience in case it is on a directly related applicational project. 
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, characterization techniques, knowledge of testing and quality standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, IEC) is considered an advantage.
  • Having the ability to coordinate services of external partners needed for the projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify trends.
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis methods and software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Minitab, Origin or similar). The ability to script (for example in VBA or R) or basic programming skills (for example Python) will be seen as an advantage.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • In terms of languages, you must have good written and effective oral communication in English. Other languages are considered an asset.
  • You have strong work ethics and passion to set and meet high performance standards.
